Plantronics Headsets – A Well Blended Mixture of Vogue and Multiple Functionality
In the past, aviators preferred to use hand held microphones instead of bulky airline headsets. This was because it produced less discomfort than the latter. However, this practice meant occasionally stealing their hands away from the flight controls when the need to correspond rose. Since this posed greater inconvenience to their colleagues, two airline pilots made an effort and created a much lighter version of the time’s conventional headset. This gave ground for the establishment of the brand Plantronics in 1961. Through the company, portable and flight standard headsets were made available for aviators. It was in 1962 when it was formally introduced. A few years later, the Federal Aviation Agency commissioned to exclusively supply them with headsets. Following a successful run with the airline industry, Plantronics then made these headsets available to the commercial market. And much like what happened with FAA, Plantronics became the leading headset provider to major contact centers and telecommunication companies, such as Bell Telephone Company.
