It’s difficult to deny the fact that cell phones are a big part of today’s world. However, what age should a child be before he or she is permitted to have a cell phone?
The cell phone industry has come a long way in the last 10 years. Always looking for improvement, manufacturers have made the phones smaller, sleeker, and packed with other features. Expanding into new markets, they have started making kids phones and targeting young teens. They can market to both the teens and the parents with this strategy.
A lot of people have chosen to get rid of their traditional phone and only use a cell phone service. People have paid two phone providers for years, but you really don’t need to do that today. Why do you need the old phone connected to the wall when everyone in the family has a cell phone?

If you have a young child, it won’t be too long once they begin school that they start asking for a cell phone. Whenever the first kid in class gets one, it will make every other kid in that class run home and ask for one. Once you buy a brand new state of the art cell phone you find that a newer, better model comes out a month or two later. One thing people do is to give their used Verizon cell phones to their kids when they get a new model. This is one way of making a cell phone last a little longer and getting more for your money.
The debate continues over kids cell phones and what age is an appropriate age for a child to have a cell phone. In ancient times (about 10 years ago) parents never had to wrestle with this question. But now all kids want these fancy cell phones and it is certainly not for safety reasons that they desire them. Kids come home everyday from school throughout America wanting a cell phone because one of their friends got one.
