The Recommended Best DROID TRAVEL APPS Part 1
Wikitude– This is like having a mobile virtual travel guide. The Wikitude DROID app lets you search for landmarks in your surrounding area and check them out on a map or a list. You can even use their Augmented Reality camera view to get descriptions and interesting stories on particular landmark overlayed on the image of the landmark you are viewing. You can even get information on a landmark just by pointing your camera at them! If you want to know the what’s what of places and things, the Wikitude Android application is an easy way to start.
StarTranslate– Bit of a weird name at first sound yes, but give this DROID app the chance that it deserves. The name “star” is meant to mean more of a “best” connotation than an astrological one by the way. This Android app translates different languages(44 of them) and even has a dictionary that comes with it to help you learn the words that you are saying also. Translate text with it as well. Keep in mind that this is program translating so there will be some bugs, but you should be able to get the gist of what your talking about across by using this app.
Where– Your thorough guide to all things local is what Where for DROID gives. Need traffic info? Or News? How about weather? Or check a movie time, or the price of gas, or what coffee shops or restaurants are around…Okay. I think that you get it. If you don’t have knowledge of a particular area because you may have just moved there or may even just want to know where you live a little bit better, you can get it with this Android app. Read reviews or join in the fun by writing your own review.
Where– The Where app for DROID is a complete guide to all things local. From gas prices to grocery stores, to weather, traffic and news, to movie theatres, coffee shops, and restaurants… Okay. You get the picture. If you are new to an area, or just want to know your own even better, this Android application will definitely help you to accomplish this, plus give you access to read and write reviews on places you visit as well.
Hotels Near Me– Hotels from over 71 different countries and a total of over 73,000 separate hotels worldwide is what this app offers. You can get other information on, read the reviews of, and even book stays at all of the hotels directly from the app. Sure you could do it yourself by looking up each hotel individually. That would take forever though and the Hotels Near Me DROID app can in a lot of cases get that hotel at a better price anyway. Search for your hotel choice by listings or by letting the app use your GPS position from your phone to bring up listings of local ones around you sorted by how far away, amenities, reviews from guests, rates for the rooms and more.
Layar Reality Browser– The DROID app that allows your camera to be used to get info on locations just by pointing and viewing them. Augmented Reality is used, which just means Layar takes reality(what your looking at with the camera) and enhances it with overlaid digital info above the image your viewing on the DROID’s camera phone.in real time. Plenty of different categories have info available to browse through directly while looking at the camera with the help of the GPS and compass internally carried by DROID’s. Clever app by all accounts.
StarTranslate– Sounds a little odd, we know, but give this DROID app a chance. The “star” part of the name is meant more as in the “best” more than in an astrological sense. This Android application can translate up to 44 different languages, and also comes equipped with its own dictionary to help you understand the words your saying. You can even translate texts with it. As with all translators on the market, there are a few bugs, but it should help you at least get the gist of your points across or understand someone else.
Part 1 of the DROID Travel Apps list was hopefully enjoyed. There are plenty of different travel apps in the Android Market you can get, but the best ones are in this list. Hopefully your DROID can be used to its fullest potential with a download of one of these fantastic apps!
