The series was continued on Nov. 2, 2005 when Nokia launched N71, N80, and N92.

N90 and N70, the first units of the NSeries device, used the old Symbian 8.1 OS. With the coming of newer models, Nokia changed to SymbianOS 9. Aside from the N72, all Nokia NSeries cellphones use the Symbian OS 9. Later generations of the series used the revised Symbian OS9 which comes with Feature Packs.

Together with the N72, the N800 and N810 internet tables also do not utilize the Symbian OS. Instead, they operate the Linux Operating System and the Maemo, an open-source platform.
