Getting WiFi Internet On Your CECT Sciphone I68: Is It Impossible?
You’ve probably already heard of the Sciphone i68: it’s an extremely low cost dual sim smart phone manufactured by Sciphone in China. It’s had a lot of success in Europe during the last year: mostly accounted to its low price, full touch-screen interface and iPhone looks.
An important missing feature has been the phones lack of WiFi internet connectivity though.
With more and more restaurants, hotels, pubs and service stations offering free wireless hot-spots; mobile phone user’s are expecting WiFi internet connectivity as a standard feature.
Consumers looking to connect to WiFi hotspots on their i68 have so far been disappointed. The dual sim smart phone does not support wireless internet access and instead uses WAP.
All of this is set to change though.
This week a brand new model of the Sciphone i68 was made public by Digizo.co.uk, a UK based online retailer specialising in Sciphone products. Dubbed the i68 WiFi: this new version of the i68 features full wireless internet access features. Connecting to wireless hot-spots at home, work, in a hotel or anywhere with WiFi available this new model can browse the web, check email, send and receive instant messages and do thousands of other things using a high speed wireless internet connection. On top of this Sciphone have made many other major improvements to the i68 experience. The touch screen interface has been hugely upgraded: now offering more control and responding to the most subtle touch. The phones camera functionality has been augmented: featuring a second fully functional camera on the front for video conferencing and a flash on the back for improved lighting. And the audio playback has been enhanced with powerful stereo speakers on the bottom of the phone.
A Digizo representative commented “We are extremely excited to be the first to bring these new products to the UK. This new WiFi i68 is going to redefine what consumers expect a low cost phone to be able to do.”
The new model i68 WiFi is set to go on sale publicly on the 1st of May 2010.
