Getting the Lost Speed Back From Your Slow Running Computer

No computer problem is more annoying than having a crash right in the middle of an operation. Second to that would be to have a sluggish or even downright slow computer. If these problems sound at all too familiar to you, you’ve come to the right place. Lets see if we can determine what the problem with your problem computer is.

Standing between us and a superbly operating computer is spyware and viruses. These two troublemakers are similar to one another. Viruses take a different track in the way they attack a PC. Viruses are out to get your computer only. Spywares mission is to get information about you; it just happens to cause your computer to act up as it goes about its evil work.

Make Sure You are Virus Free

If you happen to have a virus scanner installed on your computer, run it. Don’t worry if you had it set up to an automatic scan, this virus scan will be our starting point. If you think your virus scanner may not be the best or if you dont have one at all, Google something to the effect of “free virus scan,” you will be overwhelmed with offers. Of course, if viruses are found, you will have to pay to activate the virus cleaning function of the scanner.

If the virus scan finds nothing or you have a virus removal tool remove viruses, do a spyware scan. Once again, if you don’t have one, do a Google search for “best antispyware free scan.” You will find a good free antispyware scan on the page that comes up.

Getting Rid of Spyware is Very Important

If you have never done a spyware scan before, don’t be surprised if you find spyware. This is even if you have been doing regular virus scans. If you have to pay to activate the spyware remover part of the software, it’s still a great deal to save your computer and your identity from being stolen. However, one word of caution; don’t mess with those tools that advertise themselves as “free spyware cleaners,” they are unreliable and may cost you a lot more in the long run.

Now that we know we are free of spyware and viruses, lets look for registry corruption. If you a have a registry cleaner use it. If you dont, do an online search for one. Dont search for a free registry cleaner, you dont want one of those. Search for a free registry scan. A good registry cleaner will give your registry a free scan so you will know if you have registry corruption, but it wont repair the corruption without you purchasing the product. Since registry corruption causes more computer slowdowns than anything else I know of, this purchase is a necessary one.

A Corrupt Registry Means a Poor Running Computer

Windows XP and Vista are more prone to registry corruption than older operating systems. This is due in part to the fact these operating systems are so much larger than their earlier counterparts. It is certainly smart to keep a registry free of corruption because registry corruption can stop an operating system from performing any functions.

Now, with no viruses, no spyware and no registry corruption, do you have your computer’s speed back? I’ll bet you do! If not, at least your computer will run better and you will have taken care of some matters that definitely needed to be taken care of!

If you are still experiencing problems, open up your task manager and see exactly what is using your resources. I have seen cases where a virus scanner itself was a huge resource hog. I always advise my customers to close such programs until they are needed. If you dont find a problem in the task manager, unfortunately, there are internal problems with the computer and it needs to be troubleshot in hands on fashion.
